This course focuses on educating engineers in the field of Power Systems. This course emphatically provides the modern techniques in power system analysis, stability evaluation planning, reliability, maintainability and forecasting with an objective of sustainable and continuous power supply. Furthermore, the course encompasses subjects on high voltage DC transmission, industrial electronics and controls, power electronics and drives, advanced topics in micro processors and micro controllers and wind and solar energy electric conversion systems which are quite imperative in present power system scenario. Projects of practical relevance in these areas are also carried out during period of the study. The course will make competent engineering professional who will be able to develop broad-based economically viable solutions for unit commitment and scheduling, identify optimal solutions for improvising power transfer capability, enhancing power quality and reliability.
