“Ayur vedyanti ity ayurveda”
The term Ayuveda originated from Sanskrit word ayur meaning life and veda meaning science or knowledge,
thus Ayurveda is a science of life. It is an age old system of natural medicine practiced in India since the origin
of humanity. The Vedas are the oldest known written testaments which includes various scientific principles.
Ayurveda is upveda of Atharva Veda. It not only provides a concept of diseases and treatment but also gives
an idea about healthy, long and happy life.
As per ayurvedic concept the health can be achieved by a balance of the body, mind, sprit and the
environment. To achieve this balance some specific internal purification process followed by a special diet,
herbal remedies, yoga, meditation and massage therapy is used.
